Five 5G myths you need dismiss

Infinix ZERO 5G | Benteuno.com

Many Filipinos, especially gamers, are excited about the growing adoption of 5G and the advent of affordable 5G smartphones such as Infinix ZERO 5G, as they look forward to enjoying speeds of up to 10x faster than 4G and a smoother and gaming experience.  However, some people are against 5G implementation. There are many myths out there than scares them to even use a 5G smartphone.

Here are five 5G myths that Filipinos need to dispel.

Myth 1: 5G speed works on 4G smartphones

Fact: You need a 5G smartphone to enjoy #BeyondTheSpeed

To enjoy the full 5G experience, Filipinos need smartphones that support 5G’s higher internet speed, broader coverage, increased capacity, and ultra-low latency. However,  the expensive pricing of the early 5G devices has been a barrier. To make it more accessible,  Infinix recently launched ZERO 5G, its first 5G smartphone with a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset, 8GB RAM+128GB storage, 6.78'' FHD+ 120Hz display,  48MP camera with 30x zoom, and 5000mAh battery with 33W fast-charge. Built for extensive gaming at a Php 11,990 price tag, ZERO 5G is one of today’s most affordable 5G mobile gaming phones.

Myth 2: 5G is all about mobile internet speed

Fact: 5G offers low latency in data transmission set to revolutionize smartphones and computers, even industrial robots.

Enabling almost instant transfer of data from one device to another, 5G is an innovation that makes communication between two devices quicker than ever before, which promises effective implementation of the Internet of Technology (IoT) in many industries. In gaming, 5G’s low ping, combined with its higher capacity to support more devices simultaneously and better bandwidth, allows a more consistent multiplayer gaming experience and unprecedently immersive augmented and virtual reality games. 5G will pave the way for cloud gaming, which means developers can offer free trials of games before purchase, and people can play resource-intensive games without downloading them.

Myth 3: 5G consumes more power and drains phone battery faster

Fact: 5G’s faster speed and low latency make it more power-efficient than 4G.

While 5G is more potent than 4G, it’s not necessarily true that the former drains a phone’s battery faster than the latter, as circumstances vary. For example, 5G may consume battery life faster if it’s having a hard time looking for a solid and stable signal, but 4G may also drain the battery quicker given the slower data transfer compared to 5G. On the bright side, these concerns will be addressed by certain 5G technologies.

Infinix ZERO 5G’s high-performing 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset extends the phone’s battery life after long hours of gaming. It has an intelligent feature that switches from 5G to 4G and vice versa if 5G is not available in the area.

Myth 4: 5G is unsafe

Fact: There are already a growing number of 5G-ready cybersecurity measures

There are fears that 5G makes people more susceptible to hacking due to its multiple virtual networks, radio access network slicing, and heavy reliance on software. However, as cyberattacks become increasingly sophisticated, so do cybersecurity measures. Businesses and consumers already win half the battle by observing these measures to avoid data breaches.

Myth 5: COVID-19 spreads through 5G networks / COVID-19 vaccines include 5G chips

Fact:  No truth at all.

World Health Organization (WHO) shared that there is no adverse health effect that has been causally linked with exposure to wireless technologies. If you haven’t gotten vaccinated yet, please do so ASAP.

Infinix launches ZERO 5G w/ MediaTek Dimensity 900 on Shopee for under Php 10,000 on March 28

Infinix recently announced that ZERO 5G, its first premier 5G smartphone with higher speeds, seamless connection, faster downloads, and broader coverage than ever before, would be available in the Philippines on Shopee starting March 28, 2022, at an introductory price under PHP 10,000.

5 Great Possibilities Enabled By 5G

With the upcoming launch of the Infinix ZERO 5G powered by MediaTek Dimensity 900, positioned to be one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in the Philippines today, 5G is poised to become even more accessible. While it will enable faster internet speeds, unprecedented capacity, low latency, and quality, 5G is also considered the gateway technology that can advance the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and exciting technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT), automation, and robotics, among others, and transform the way we live and work. Here are five great possibilities that 5G will unlock:

  1. A more immersive gaming experience.  Enhanced mobile broadband improves mobile users' experience, especially for data-heavy, immersive gaming experiences. Once it becomes more mainstream, 5G will provide better next-generation gaming experiences such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and even those emerging in the metaverse.
  2. Improved connectivity for your entertainment. 5G offers 1-10gbps, a significant leap from 4G’s maximum speed of 150mbps. Besides speedier movie downloads and smooth video streaming, 5G will give better video and audio quality for more interactive and realistic entertainment experiences.
  3. Better and faster access to information for social services. With the deployment of 5G, networks will become more interconnected, providing Filipinos more access to online education and social services such as healthcare. Teleconsultation will evolve from simply allowing patients to have virtual checkups with their doctors and having their vital signs and other indicators like blood sugar and pressure checked remotely. Once it has been rolled out to more areas of the country, 5G will even enable doctors to explore the use of AR, VR, and robots during complex surgeries.
  4. Enhanced operational effectiveness. Companies continuously look for cost-effective ways to innovate operations to provide better service and products to cope with customers’ ever-changing needs. One way is by embracing automation and 5G-driven technologies to help businesses reduce operational costs and be more efficient through intelligent factories for manufacturing, human-to-robot collaboration, and predictive maintenance.
  5. A faster and more efficient transportation system. Other countries have already rolled out 5G-enabled smart cars, allowing vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications. The V2X helps reduce driving time and provides a safer environment for pedestrians and cyclists through advanced sensors.

On the other hand, logistics will become more connected, as 5G enables autonomous vehicles and faster and simplified communications. Urban transportation will also be improved to encourage commuters to take public transport and potentially reduce traffic congestion.
