Baler is stepping up its recycling game. Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) is supporting the Municipality of Baler with collection bins and a baling machine to improve the recovery and recycling of clear PET bottles across its 13 barangays.

The initiative builds on CCEAP's long-running environmental partnership with Baler, including its 2019 support for beach cleanups. With stronger local waste management tools, can more communities turn everyday plastic waste into resources worth recovering?

Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP), the bottling partner and official distributor of Coca-Cola products in the country, reinforces its longstanding partnership with the Municipality of Baler by supporting the community’s waste management system with collection bins and a baling machine for clear PET plastic bottles.

Supported by the Baler Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on Environment, the partnership under CCEAP’s Tapon to Ipon program seeks to strengthen the collection, segregation, and recovery of PET plastic bottles across Baler's 13 barangays. With the provided equipment, the municipality is enabled to enhance waste management operations and improve recycling efficiency.

"We are grateful for Coca-Cola's continued contribution to our environmental initiatives. At the end of the day, we recognize that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. This partnership will help strengthen our efforts, while fostering greater awareness and participation among residents and visitors as we continue to keep Baler clean, sustainable, and welcoming for all," said Mayor Rhett Ronan Angara.

"It is encouraging to see our partnership with the Municipality of Baler grow over the years, from supporting the community with a surf rake to the provision of collection bins and a baling machine. These initiatives not only help strengthen PET collection and recovery efforts but also support the municipality's broader waste management goals. We look forward to continuing to work together on more environmental programs in the future," said Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada, CCEAP Vice President for Corporate & Regulatory Affairs.

This latest initiative builds on years of collaboration between CCEAP and the Municipality of Baler in support of environmental sustainability. In 2019, CCEAP contributed a surf rake tractor to help the municipality maintain cleaner beaches through regular and efficient coastal cleanup operations.

CCEAP provided a surf rake to the Municipality of Baler in 2019 to help facilitate safe, efficient, and regular beach-cleaning operations, supporting the municipality's environmental stewardship and eco-tourism efforts.

Through sustained engagement with local government units (LGUs) and communities across the country, CCEAP remains committed to strengthening waste management systems and fostering collective action toward more sustainable communities, helping ensure that valuable resources are diverted from landfills and kept out of the environment.
