Globe takes a big leap in sustainability by rolling out eco SIMs in the Philippines—now available for all Globe Prepaid and TM users. These sustainable SIM cards are made from 100% recycled plastic and align with global climate goals.
Globe makes a bold and timely move toward sustainability, by officially rolling out eco SIMs in the Philippines for its Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers—marking a significant step in making environmentally responsible tech more accessible to everyday Filipinos.
With Globe Prepaid and TM eco-friendly SIMs now available, this nationwide expansion means that nearly every mobile user under the Globe network—over 96% of its mobile base—can now opt for a SIM card made from 100% recycled plastic SIM cards. First introduced in 2022 for Postpaid users, the ecoSIM initiative made Globe the first telco in the Philippines to use recycled plastic for its SIM beddings.
By transitioning from virgin plastic to recycled plastic SIMs, Globe is directly supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
“Sustainability is at the heart of what we do,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “We continue to look for areas in the business where our practice leads to greater impact.”
Eric Tanbauco, Globe’s Head of Consumer Mobile Business, also emphasized the larger mission, stating, “The launch of our ecoSIMs is just one of the many ways Globe is working towards a greener Philippines, and we invite our customers to be part of this journey.”
This initiative connects strongly with today’s consumers, especially Gen Z, who actively seek out brands that take meaningful action on climate issues. With TM known as the go-to brand for budget-savvy customers, the availability of sustainable SIM cards reinforces the idea that sustainability doesn't have to come at a higher cost. TM users can now help the planet in small yet impactful ways while enjoying consistent, affordable service.
Beyond SIM cards, Globe is also investing in other green telco Philippines initiatives. From renewable energy integration and green network solutions to electric vehicles and more climate-conscious strategies, the company is steadily working to reduce its carbon footprint.
Eco-friendly SIMs for Globe Prepaid and TM will be available soon in branches nationwide, inviting millions to take part in a more sustainable future—one SIM card at a time.
