“Offline is the traditional way of selling but this pandemic, which forced us to stay home, allowed digital platforms to explode… There are so many platforms that give you access to goods, services, and even shopping in groceries. All of this has brought about a new breed of entrepreneurs because of digital… And I think moving forward, this is how we are going to survive,” the Go Negosyo founder said.

Furthermore, Head of Enterprise Analytics and Insights for PLDT Enterprise Sandy Roque noted that this sector’s resilience depends on transformative programs that will embrace the new business norm with innovative entrepreneurship in these unprecedented conditions.

Roque said that, this market segment will need to overcome this challenge collectively, as businesses need to face the obstacle of low digital adoption, and the awareness of the available tools.

“While there is an increase in FinTech technologies, there is still a bit of lack of trust in FinTech solutions, and add by addressing the gap of access/connectivity particularly in the rural areas. It is simply bridging the gap on the awareness of the tools available that applies to this segment, factor in the reliable connectivity to operate their business will definitely not only allow them to survive in the post COVID19 world, but also give them a competitive advantage the market today,” he said.

With that, the PLDT Enterprise executive noted that it is imperative for service providers like PLDT to take part in sharing their knowledge and contribute to the rebuilding and re-learning processes to aid MSMEs that still don’t have the necessary skills to adapt to the digital economy.

Meanwhile, in his opening remarks, PLDT Enterprise Vice President & Head for Small and Micro Business Chito Franco lauded the unbreakable spirit of Filipino entrepreneurs to find ways to survive and come out stronger despite the current business challenges.
