Samsung Galaxy A71: What's New and First Impressions

Samsung started the year right in releasing the Galaxy A71, successor to 2019 Galaxy A70,  a much powerful but lighter(weight-wise) mid range phone at around 20K+ pricepoint. We'll share to you our own take on the new Galaxy A71 to find out if it's a good buy, worth your money and be your next phone this 2020

Samsung has just unveiled it's latest A Series line, but they already get our hands a brand new Galaxy A71 ahead of the actual market release(15th of Feb). Everything's upgraded! Samsung sticks to the 6.7-inch screen, same with A70 and A80 smartphones, but adopted the Infinity-O display. So there's a possibility that future A-Series phones will also get the notch-less Infinity-O display.

The Galaxy A71's processor has been upgraded to the 8nm SnapDragon 730 CPU with Adreno 618 GPU, capable of handling 4k videos, heavy gaming, multitasking(thanks to the 8GB RAM) between productivity and Netflix and all, while keeping battery drain problems at bay.

It packs Quad Cameras in the back, which includes a macro lens to let get you closer to your subject. The tricky part is you have to get to use to it, as you may need to familiarize yourself on how far or close you have to be on your subject to achieve sharp macro photos. The main camera is 64 MP with 1.8 aperture, which should let you shoot photos in low-light with ease. Though the loaded camera doesn't have optical zoom, the digital zoom(up to 8x) feature still does the job. Good thing that there's a preset: 1x, 2x and 8x, yet you can still set in manually to your preferred zoom range.

We totally love the screen, it's large, vibrant colors and pleasant to the eyes, you'll enjoy it right outside the box. It's fun reviewing the pictures you took from it in the gallery app. Also video streaming in Netflix and YouTube shows deep backs, like you're watching it from a Samsung TV. The colors are so vibrant and pleasant to the eyes in our opinion.

It offers the usual security features found in smartphones these days, like Fingerprint and Facial Recognition. The on-screen biometrics works well and fast enough to unlock the phone, though we still prefer the feel of having it at the back and much faster

You can zoom in to your recorded videos, which is big plus specially when you want to look into the subject closely. The Infinity-O Display, on a Super AMOLED screen, you'll feel amazed in the colors that pop out like your watching on a Samsung TV. We love the notchless touch and we can watch videos full screen, as in all the way to the top where you can see the signal bar and goes all the way to the bottom. The thin bezel is a nice touch, as it still allow you to hold your phone, within your palms, w/o affecting the display.

We can't say much yet about the the actual battery life duration as we play it in a remote environment, which is pretty much running WiFi or no WiFi at all. The phone's speakers are good and you can hear them in stereo.

We'll give them more playtime and the stress of usual workload that this smartphone deserves and we'll share our own Galaxy A71 review in a deeper scale.

It's great to hold and feel right to your palm. The big and wide screen is perfect for watching movies or editing your videos. Vloggers and video creators will love the A71 features and focus more on the content. There are built-in apps to get you started with your vlogs. Plus the super-steady video feature lets you take your adventure with less shake, no need to always bring a mobile gimbal.

The Samsung Galaxy A71 is available in 3 colors: Prism Black, Prism Silver and Prism Blue. It's priced at PHP 22, 990 and now available on all Samsung stores and retailers
