Angel Hack Manila Winners and contenders. Jusged by Greg Gopman and Josh Costine

Do you know what this crown-like logo means? It's a logo for the Hackathon event called AngelHack Manila that just happened over the weekend, which the group PageSnapp just earned. "What's AngelHack Manila? Who's PageSnapp?" you may ask. Read along…

It was between years 2001-2002 that I got more exposed programing language and internet. Ever since I learned and got a bit understanding of it, the way I look into computers had changed. I became hooked.

Almost 11 years after... I saw myself joining a blogger’s photo contest which will cover and spread the hack-history about the said event, AngelHack Manila.

AngelHack organizes competitions where developers and entrepreneurs can learn tools, meet friends and get funding and mentorship for their start-up ideas.

As an observer, its first day, somewhat started slow. The close to 300 Philippine-based developers are just prepping up, planning and visualizing what they want to achieve in just 24 hours!

Tiring day at Angel Hack Manila 2013, so taking a nap is a must

Day 2, participants were all looking tired, some just woke up, but most of them lacked sleep. But, you can see it in their eyes that they won't give up. Each of them have the drive to stand out. No matter how simple or complex they're coding is, it stands out in its very own way.

The time for judgement came. Each were given 2 minutes to present their hack and convince the judges that what they created should be part of the big leagues. After more than an hour of waiting. The top 12 were named. They were given the opportunity to present themselves in front of the crowd, bloggers, organizers, sponsors and get critic by the Judges

Team PageSnapp took the number 1 spot and topped the others, after they created a mobile app that will help business get an eagle-eye view of what’s happening by simply using the data from their Facebook fan pages. This group from Davao will get more or less 12-week mentorship from IdeaSpace and Smart Developer Network (Smart Devnet) before heading to Silicon Valley. Once there, PageSnapp will receive more mentorship and assistance from incubators and investors to help turn their big idea into a start-up

Congratulations to PageSnapp for winning; Judges join their victorious chant and happiness

Perhaps, next time, on the 2nd leg of Angel Hack Manila, I'll be participating. Not as a field reporter, not as a blogger, but as an AngelHack Manila hacker!
