HR tech firm STORM is the Philippine representative to the Startup World Cup

Leading benefits technology firm STORM Technologies will represent the Philippines in the Startup World Cup 2018 after winning in a regional competition at Slingshot ASEAN: Startup and Innovation Summit. The event was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Startup World Cup is a global conference and competition that convenes top venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, and world-class tech CEOs. Organized by Fenox Venture Capital, the global competition will be held in May 2018 in San Francisco, California. STORM will go up against more than 20 other startups worldwide for a chance to win an investment worth USD 1 million.

We are proud to represent the Philippines in the international arena. Our country’s competitive startup ecosystem exhibits strong potential, attracting foreign investors... This victory also allows us to showcase our mission to the world—to nurture happier and more productive employees via innovative benefits solutions.
 - Cindy Burdette, STORM Head of Sales and Growth

STORM competed with 10 other local startups from industries such as financial technology and healthcare. In their pitch, the firm highlighted how technology can be used to create more innovative solutions in the workplace, particularly toward employee benefits delivery and utilization.

STORM helps organizations provide competitive benefits and incentives strategies through its patented platforms. STORM Flex allows employees to convert traditional benefits into points, which they can use to buy items in the firm’s exclusive and curated online marketplace. This allows employees to trade in underutilized company benefits for something more relevant, depending on what they want or need. On the other hand, STORM Kudos lets companies reward and recognize their employees with points, which they can also use in STORM’s marketplace.

“This recognition represents the hard work of all STORMers. As a Christ-centered firm, we lift up this blessing to God. We are extremely excited to compete and represent the country in Silicon Valley next year,” says Burdette.

The HR tech firm now serves over 100,000 employees from top companies across diverse industries, including business process outsourcing, insurance, consumer goods and manufacturing. In 2014, STORM received its first round of funding when Xurpas Inc. (PSE:X), the largest publicly-listed consumer technology company in Southeast Asia, invested USD 4.5 million in the firm.

  1. If you can't stand crowd then for sure get to Chicago venues early to start off your night. Our group did this just a few days ago and quaffed down some tasty beers and ciders before making our escape to further escapades in the city.
